Localore: Finding America

AIR is searching for 15 creative leaders with ideas that will bring public media to every street corner in America. The winning projects will be incubated at public radio stations nationwide as part of Localore: Finding America, a $3.2 million production that seeds innovation units at public radio and television stations across the country.

Finding America is the latest in AIR’s series of producer-led research and development productions, which have an accumulated reach of more than 28 million since 2010. Winners will be given 6-9 month contracts to build their ideas working with one of the 1,200 public media stations in cities and towns across the United States. Finding America is a competition open to documentarians, journalists, programmers, storytellers, educators, artists, and entrepreneurs: makers with a passion for public service media.

Public television and radio stations compete for projects from May 1-31 with a short video application loaded to the Finding America Station Runway. Project creator applications are open from June 1-26. Productions will launch beginning in November. Guidelines, the Station Runway and application information are at www.finding-america.org.
