BBC World Service Special Edition – Trending: Bangladesh

BBC World Service will air a special edition of Trending this Thursday, July 30, at 0200 ET, with a repeat on Sunday, August 2, at 1100 ET.

Program Description:

BBC Trending: Bangladesh

The internet is at the heart of a struggle to define Bangladesh’s identity. This year, three bloggers who had written about secularism or atheism have been killed by unknown assailants. They are part of a wider movement who have been using social media to spread their message. Standing in opposition to them are Islamic voices who urge the government to act to protect the Islamic faith. BBC Trending reports on the internet conversation and the way the struggle is being fought online, and on the streets.

This program will replace The Thought Show on Thursday, July 30, and replace Newshour Extra on Sunday, August 2.
