Catch the refreshed BBC Newshour

At last week’s PRPD conference, BBC World Service announced some exciting developments for Newshour.

“I’m excited to be bringing you today news of a refreshed program with new music and a commitment to make Newshour even stronger for you and your audiences.”

– Mary Hockaday, Controller, BBC World Service English

Why? Because audiences are saying Newshour is an important part of the midday lineup, and program directors have shared insights on what would make Newshour even stronger for those audiences.

As a result, here’s some of what you’ll hear:

  • New theme music intended to strengthen the program’s flow within the midday schedule. Take a listen to a clip.
  • Close attention to conversational tone and style of presentation
  • Increasing coverage of areas of interest to U.S. audiences, such as Latin America and Southeast Asia.

And, in spring 2016, Newshour will move the 8:00am ET feed of the program to 10:00am ET to make it even more accessible for U.S. stations.

Rest assured, the high-quality journalism and global reach of Newshour is not changing. Newshour “remains the place where we bring you the world in an hour – whatever the story, wherever the story” said Hockaday.
