New BBC World Service 6-part series with James Harding and The Economist’s Zanny Minton-Beddoes

BBC World Service if offering a new six-part series titled “On Background” starting Saturday, November 14. The new weekly series is presented by James Harding, Director of BBC News, who will be joined each week by Zanny Minton-Beddoes, Editor-in-Chief of The Economist, and guests to dig a little deeper into some of the big stories of the week.

Covering three or four stories in each hour long episode, the series will feature lively discussion which adds light to the heat of the week’s news. The program includes major interviews, discussion and viewpoints from a range of perspectives, data briefings and revisits ‘lost stories’. The program will also open a door on the editorial thought processes of BBC News and draw on the expertise of BBC journalists around the world, as well as significant political players and engaging and informed commentators relevant to the stories we focus on.
