Celebrate Mexican music with “¡Viva la música!”

¡Viva la música!” explores rich musical traditions, from the folk influences that inform classical music compositions from Mexico, to the distinctive sounds and Mexican rhythms that are present in the contemporary music we hear throughout the United States today.

In this hour-long celebration of the music of Mexico, host Jacquie Fuller will introduce us to notable contemporary Mexican-American performers with commentary from Gilberto Vazquez Valle.

Music selections include compositions by Jesús Echevarría, Arturo M&acuate;rquez, and Eugene Rodriguez, and include performances by Orquestra Mexicana de las Artes, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Selections range from two to nine minutes, with an average of approximately five minutes. “¡Viva la música!” offers approximately 45 minutes of music, and approximately 15 minutes of commentary, conversation and insights by Fuller and Valle.
