Calling ALL Stations: Brexit Special from Marketplace Weekend & BBC World Service

Marketplace Weekend has teamed up with the BBC World Service to create special programming focused on Brexit and its impact on the economy. This weekend, Lizzie O’Leary hosts Marketplace Weekend and BBC’s In the Balance from the UK to provide on-the-ground reporting as the British people adjust to their new future.

Given the timeliness of this coverage, we’re making this week’s episode of Marketplace Weekend available to all stations, complete with on-air promos.

In this latest Marketplace Weekend, Lizzie will examine the impact of the vote from the multiple angles and perspectives of our BBC partners, and raise listeners’ economic intelligence with Marketplace’s own Brexit experts – Paddy Hirsch and John Buckley. She’ll also answer listeners’ questions on how Brexit will affect their personal finances. This special episode addresses a critical question head on: What does Brexit mean for me?

While Brexit is being covered by every news source, Marketplace Weekend and BBC World Service are uniquely positioned to partner to examine the fallout – combining business expertise and perspective from both sides of the pond, with conversations from the economy. This is a unique opportunity to share Lizzie’s fresh approach and expertise with your audience. Listeners will come away with a deeper understanding of what Brexit is, and how it impacts their daily lives.

Stations that carry Marketplace Weekend will air it at their usual time, and find this episode on the Marketplace Weekend ContentDepot program page this Friday at 20:00 ET.

Stations that do not carry Marketplace Weekend can find this episode on the Marketplace – Specials ContentDepot page, where it will be available as a standalone program. The air window will be Friday at 20:00 ET through Monday, July 4.

Lizzie O’Leary will also join the BBC World Service’s In the Balance this weekend. She’ll ask what’s next for the UK economy and businesses that depend on the UK as a gateway to Europe – and what will the future look like? Lizzie reports from an England town where the majority of people voted to leave the EU.

This program will air on BBC World Service on July 2-3, and be available for broadcast through Friday, July 8. The program will follow the BBC World Service clock, and is available for download from the BBC Partners Site.
