Performance Today Celebrates 30 Years!

On January 5, 2017, Performance Today will celebrate 30 years at the forefront of classical music. In that time, the show has featured over 65,000 live concert performances, as well as hundreds of rising stars and established headliners from around the world.

Performance Today  was created by National Public Radio (NPR) in 1987, and produced and distributed the program from Washington, D.C. until 2007. Fred Child has been the program’s host since October 2000.

In  January 2007, American Public Media added PT to its lineup, and moved production and distribution to its headquarters in Saint Paul, MN. In 2007, the show was awarded the Karl Haas Prize for Music Education by Fine Arts Radio International. In 2014, Performance Today won a Gabriel Award for artistic achievement.

Thanks to everyone who has made this continuing success possible!
