- One thing we know for certain about the crisis we’re in – the economic pain will not be shared equally. Wealth can determine everything from the quality of healthcare people can access to how well they can ride out a job loss, and racial inequality is baked into the system. The average white household today has nearly ten times the wealth of the average black household, and one reason for that goes back almost a century to redlining – the practice of restricting lending in certain neighborhoods based on race. Redlining has been illegal for decades, but as Marketplace’s Amy Scott reports, an exhibit traveling around the country aims to show how racist housing policies continue to shape our economy today.

Samin’s award-winning Nextflix docu-series is based on her best-selling book, Salt, Fat , Acid, Heat, she is a regular food columnist for The New York Times Magazine and has launched a four-part podcast, Home Cooking.
New Episode – April 10:
- Francis teams up with two home-cooking stars, The New York Time’s food columnist Melissa Clark and Pati Jinich, host of PBS’s Pati’s Mexican Table to take on listener’s pre-recorded real-life cooking questions.
