Marketplace

Week of April 20

Marketplace (PM)

  • Kai talks with Howard Friedman about his new book Ultimate Price: The Value we Place on Life which looks at the cost/benefit analysis when it comes to human lives.
  • In the last few years we’ve seen the development of new tools to better understand where and how much oil is flowing around the world. From AI tools, satellite photos, geolocation data for tankers and foot traffic and pollution maps, the data can be used to figure out whether the members of OPEC+, who recently agreed to historic production cuts, are abiding by the agreement or cheating. That’s important knowledge as global oil producers work to flatten the curve of supply so that we don’t exceed our capacity to store crude. Marketplace’s Scott Tong checks in a week after the OPEC+ agreement to find out whether promises are being kept.
