CARTOONS – YES OR NO?

Should media organizations publish the latest Charlie Hebdo cartoons?

The cover shows a tearful Prophet Mohammed holding a sign that says “Je suis Charlie” (I am Charlie). Some newspapers and media groups have published it. Most have not (including the BBC). Is it more important now than ever to stand up for free speech and show the latest cartoons? Or is concern for staff and the desire not to spread offense an understandable reason not to risk publication?

We’ll hear from a range of people in the media with different views.

FRENCH MUSLIMS

Yesterday we heard a discussion amongst French Jews reflecting the deep unease many feel about their future in France in the wake of the past week.

Today we’ll hear from a group of French Muslims about their position now…whether they are more or less optimistic about their future as French citizens, whether the unity of Sunday’s rally will last, who should tackle Islamist extremism and what they feel about the latest Charlie Hebdo front cover.
