BBC special coverage of European Parliament elections

This week, more than 750 Members of Parliament are to be chosen in what the E.U. describes as the world’s biggest transnational election. Voting takes place across four days (Thursday-Sunday) and the BBC World Service will have extended coverage of the projected results from Brussels, London and across Europe this Sunday, May 26.

Coverage will include how individual countries vote, how new alliances within parliament will shape the European Union over the next five years, and how the U.K. electorate will respond to the Brexit stalemate in the British Parliament.

BBC World Service broadcasts: Sunday, May 26

  • 5-6 p.m. ET:Extra edition of Newshour – Presented by Jamie Coomersamy from London and Kevin Connolly from Brussels, we hear from reporters across Europe, including Nuala McGovern in Rome, as the final E.U. polls close.

NOTE: This program will not follow Newshour clock and will instead follow the standard BBC World Service clock (link below).

  • 6-6:30 p.m. ET: An extended edition of The Newsroom (Sporting Witness will be dropped).
  • 7-8 p.m. ET: European Election Results – Live from London and Brussels, with reporters from the across the U.K. and Europe. Presenters Chris Mason and Adam Fleming are joined by BBC Political Editor Laura Kuenssberg and BBC Europe Editor, Katya Adler, throughout the hour.

NOTE: This program will not follow the standard BBC Clock. The bottom of the hour posts from 7:20:00 p.m. – 7:32:30 p.m. ET will be pulled to allow for live, rolling coverage of the election results.
