BBC interview with Iranian Vice President Masoumeh Ebtekar

On Wednesday, August 19, BBC World Service will air a special interview between the BBC’s Kim Ghattas and Iranian Vice President Masoumeh Ebtekar. This special program will replace all HARDtalk editions on August 19, airing at 0400, 1200, and 1700 ET.

Program Description: Interview with Masoumeh Ebtekar, Vice President, Iran

The BBC’s Kim Ghattas interviews the Iranian Vice President Masoumeh Ebtekar in Tehran. Tehran is a modern city of 12 million people – a study in contrast between bazaars and shopping malls, between hard-line clerics and millennial hipsters. Iran’s Vice President rose to fame in 1979 as the spokesperson for the students holding the hostages at the American Embassy. 36 years later Iran has signed a nuclear deal with six world powers but the focus is on Iran and the United States. Kim asks how Masoumeh Ebtekar feels about the relationship between the two countries.
