Program title: Global Questions: Syria’s Refugee Crisis – No End in Sight?

Program description:
After 5 years of civil war in Syria, host countries for refugees, like Jordan, say they are struggling to cope with the influx. More than four million Syrians have fled across the border to Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey, leading to immense strains on the infrastructure of those countries. These refugees have experienced the trauma of war, the loss of loved ones and their homes, and the struggle to survive in a new country.

Global Questions travels to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)’s Registration Centre in Amman, Jordan – one of the staging posts for refugees on their journey to rebuild their lives. Zeinab Badawi is joined by:

  • Jordan’s Minister for International Cooperation
  • Lebanon’s Director for the Ministry of Education
  • The UNHCR representative in Jordan
  • A member of Syria’s opposition high negotiations committee
  • The German Ambassador to Jordan

They answer tough and frank questions from an audience not just from Amman, but also from refugee camps at Zaatari and Azraq, and from the city of Irbid which has one of the highest concentrations of refugees in the Middle East.
