Veterans Day Special Reminder: “Salute in Song”

“Salute in Song,” honors the commitment and service of the men and women in our armed forces, past and present. Hosted by Alison Young and featuring Cantus, this new one-hour special presents music and dialogue about the armed services, with an emphasis on Veterans Day.

Performances by Cantus include “In Flanders Fields,” “Waiting for the Dawn of Peace,” “Last Letter Home,” “Imagine,” and “America the Beautiful.”

“Salute in Song” offers approximately 45 minutes of music, with approximately 15 minutes of commentary.

About the Host
In addition to serving as host of SymphonyCast, Alison Young hosts weekday mornings on Classical Minnesota Public Radio. She also hosts Classical MPR’s Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra broadcasts and American Public Media’s annual St. Olaf Christmas Festival. Before her career in radio, she enjoyed a successful career as a concert flutist. While an illness cut her performing career short, she made a vibrant artistic transition, making the natural move to broadcasting, becoming a host and producer.
