The Response – America’s Story
Episode 3: “Tell us why you, your parents, or your grandparents came to live in America”
60 minutes, Available through April 2

This month, The Response – America’s Story tackles one of President Trump’s signature issues: immigration. Contributors from a dozen states and every corner of the world tell how they got here and what they hope happens next. An Indonesian engineer loses his job and his legal status, but wins the immigration lottery and lands in Indiana. A Minnesota grandmother watches her Mexican son-in-law get picked up and then deported. A graduate student from Utah is about to get a master’s degree and go into politics, but worries she’ll be going to detention instead. Other contributors are proud to say they or their ancestors came legally, and always for a better life. The program is a remarkable array of heartfelt experiences, and a testament to both the strength and challenge of the U.S. as a diverse nation.

This latest episode is produced in San Antonio – a city known for the Alamo and its River Walk, but full of surprises, as we hear from our partners at Texas Public Radio. It’s the third in our four-part series featuring people sharing their self-recorded stories throughout President Trump’s first 100 days in office.

The program is available on ContentDepot for broadcast through April 2. It follows a 59:00 clock (1:00 billboard, 5:00 news hole, 53:00 program).
