 Tuesday, August 15
12:15 p.m.: Lunch “Marketplace Morning Report from BBC World Service” (Independence Ballroom)
Starting September 5, the first feed of Marketplace Morning Report will be presented live from London by BBC World Service, combining Marketplace’s unique perspective and tone with BBC’s global reach.

Join us for a lunch conversation with host David Brancaccio and BBC’s Anu Anand, the host of this reshaped first feed. Marketplace’s Molly Wood will talk with them about how Marketplace Morning Report from BBC World Service will expand the scope and insight of economic news and trends for U.S. audiences, and why it’s essential to understanding a rapidly changing world.

2 p.m.: It Doesn’t Have to Be Like This: Re-thinking Radio (Capitol)
BBC World Service Senior Commissioning Editor Steve Titherington offers examples of what works, what shouldn’t have worked, and the obstacles the media is determined to put in the way of a good idea and a successful production. He’ll offer fresh approaches through new thinking about audiences, journalists, formats, presenters and acceptable risk.

Wednesday, August 16
10:30 a.m.: Networking Break with BBC World Service & APM (Independence Foyer)
Take a break between sessions to enjoy a beverage with the team behind Topline, BBC World Service’s hit weekday segments. Presenter and editor Rob Hugh-Jones and producer Dave McGuire will discuss how they curate these rich, relevant, 90-second snapshots of the world’s top stories as they unfold, exclusively for U.S. audiences, with four distinct feeds to complement Morning Edition.

11 a.m.: Energize Content Promotion, Build Audiences, Donations and Sponsorships (Archives)
Nick Kereakos, APM’s SVP, Chief Technology Officer and General Manager of Regional Services, joins this panel discussion to discuss the development and testing of MetaPub, a new service developed by the Public Radio Satellite System (PRSS) to synchronize text, images and links with live broadcasts on smartphones, car dashboards, web sites and other mobile devices.

11 a.m.: Big Shoes to Fill: How to Identify Talent for Public Media’s Future (Treasury)
Francis Lam, new host of The Splendid Table, joins a panel of high-profile transition veterans on identifying, attracting and elevating new on-air talent. They’ll share tips on what works, what doesn’t, and how you can leverage transitional moments to make your station stronger and more beloved.

11 a.m.: Podcast to Radio, or Vice Versa? Exploring Potential & Realities (Mint)
Moderated by Nate Tobey, APM’s Director of On Demand and National Cultural Programming, this session explores what works about the podcasting to radio crossover, or vice versa. How is it a “both/and” strategy instead of an “either/or” strategy for reaching audiences?

Thursday, August 17
5:30 a.m./6 a.m.: APM Running Club (Hotel Lobby)
Join the APM Distribution team for some fun and fresh air before the final day of sessions! We’ll have two start times and unique courses: a 10K run at 5:30 a.m., and a 5K run/walk at 6 a.m. All are welcome! Please contact your Station Representative to RSVP.

Meet us in the hotel lobby before your start time to receive an APM Running Club bib and course map. Go at your own pace, and pick up a post-run snack pack in the lobby when you return.
