APM announces new partnership with iHeartRadio

Dear colleagues,

Today APM and Clear Channel Media and Entertainment announced two partnership agreements, which will make APM content available through iHeartRadio. This agreement expands what we’ve been doing for years through our streaming content and podcasts, with the goal of making our content available everywhere, anytime.

As we have done in the past on digital/mobile distribution arrangements of our content and other strategic news, it is important that you hear this news first from us rather than other sources.

As part of the agreement with Clear Channel, our national programs that currently are served as podcasts will be available. These include Marketplace, The Splendid Table, The News From Lake Wobegon and The Writer’s Almanac.

Additionally, we have the opportunity to introduce more people to public radio through our station live streams. iHeartRadio will include the following live streams: MPR News, Classical MPR, The Current, Classical South Florida, Wonderground Radio, Local Current, Radio Heartland and Classical MPR’s Choral Stream.

In our role as a public service, our aim is to create indispensable content and to allow our listeners to access it how and where they desire. As with past deals, such as Google Current, Swell, Slacker, Tunein and others, this partnership opens up new audiences to us while ensuring that our existing audiences who may be using these platforms as well can continue to experience our content.

Jon McTaggart’s quote in our news release sums this up news nicely:

“Our aim is to serve our current listeners—and expand our audience base—by making our content available everywhere.”
