Important APM Programming Update

Dear colleagues —

I’m writing this note to share some important news with you. As a result of COVID-19, the current economic climate has pushed us to make some challenging decisions. After much consideration American Public Media has made the difficult decision to end production and national distribution of Live from Here.

Live from Here, previously A Prairie Home Companion, has and always will hold a spot in the hearts of public media listeners. After a 44-year run it was an incredibly complex decision to sunset this program. We are grateful to the entire Live from Here team and Grammy award-winning host Chris Thile for their exemplary work over the last few years in reimagining this legacy radio variety show.

Thank you for your support of the program over the years. 2020 has proven both a challenging and transformative year, forcing us to re-evaluate resources and consider different opportunities. American Public Media remains committed to working with stations and audiences in shaping new products and services for the public radio network, and we look forward to charting that course with you.

We understand that program changes are difficult, and we are committed to working closely with you during this transition. We will continue to offer repeat broadcasts of Live from Here through mid-September and carrying stations will not be billed for the show after June 30. More information about this transition period will be available soon, but in the meantime if you have any questions do not hesitate to reach out to your Station Relations Representative.

Regards,
Chandra Kavati
Vice President of Distribution and Underwriting, American Public Media
