Announcement from APM and The Story

apm_bar_sm

Dear Stations,

American Public Media and WUNC – North Carolina Public Radio are announcing today that The Story with Dick Gordon will cease production, with the final episode to air Friday, November 22nd, 2013.

After much consideration, WUNC and APM have decided not to continue the program without Dick, and will each turn their attention to other projects. Dick’s last day hosting the show will be in October. After that, we will make archival shows available as well as a temporary host to fill the time to get us to the November 22nd date.

As many of you know, the program was originally created and designed around host, Dick Gordon’s, unique skills and personality. Over the show’s 8 year run it has earned several national awards and has developed a strong and loyal public radio audience. Dick has announced his intention to step away from the The Story with plans to return to his native Canada, to be closer to his family.

APM will work with you to find quality, alternative programming to fill the gap in your schedule. We know you and your audience will be sad to say goodbye to The Story and we thank you for your loyalty throughout the years.

Your Station Relations Representative will be in touch with more details and to answer any questions that may arise.

Thank you,

Nancy Cassutt
Managing Director, National Distribution

APM announces new partnership with iHeartRadio

This agreement expands what we’ve been doing for years through our streaming content and podcasts, with the goal of making our content available everywhere, anytime.

As we have done in the past on digital/mobile distribution arrangements of our content and other strategic news, it is important that you hear this news first from us rather than other sources.

Highlights of APM coverage of the Boston bombings

Hello colleagues,

As the Boston bombing story unfolded last week we all watched and listened intently as the investigation unfolded. National program producers were right there too, listening and reacting to the news. They took special care to find different angles and other stories that complimented the on-going breaking news in Boston.

Our national programming is adept at creating rich and timely programming to accent live news coverage. This is a brief rundown of how three APM national news programs adapted and enhanced their own programming to responsive to on-going events.
