Carnegie Hall Live February Performances

February includes an all start line-up for Carnegie Hall Live with three worldclass concerts.

  • The Boston Symphony Orchestra and conductor Bernard Haitink take center stage on Tuesday, February 11 at 8:00 pm EST, for Brahms Symphony No. 4 and Funeral Music for Queen Mary by Steven Stucky (after Henry Purcell).
  • On Sunday, February 23 at 2:00 pm EST, we will showcase the superstar duo of Yo-Yo Ma and Emanuel Ax performing cello sonatas by Johannes Brahms.
  • And the February concerts conclude with Franz-Welser Most leading the Vienna Philharmonic in symphonies by Mozart and Bruckner, and Johannes Maria Staud’s On Comparative Meteorology on Wednesday, February 26 at 8:00 pm EST.

Jeff Spurgeon and Fred Child will co-host the program. Lengths and the broadcast windows will be announced in each performance’s week out reminder email.

Last Night of the BBC Proms, September 7th

Last Night of the Proms is coming up, Saturday, September 7th! Join us as Marin Alsop becomes the first female conductor of the Last Night of the Proms, and mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato and violinist Nigel Kennedy join the BBC Symphony Orchestra and BBC Symphony Chorus in a concert that runs from Rossini and Handel arias to a mass sing-along.

Carnegie Hall Live this Wednesday, March 20: program update from APM

Carnegie Hall has announced that the concert by the San Francisco Symphony and Michael Tilson Thomas originally scheduled for Wednesday, March 20 has been cancelled due to the orchestra’s current work stoppage. We at APM and WQXR regret this, but are pleased to announce that an outstanding concert from last season’s Carnegie Hall Livethe Berlin Philharmonic in Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 – will be fed to stations, on schedule, this Wednesday. This concert will be fed via the existing program page in Content Depot, which has been re-named to: “Carnegie Hall Live: Berlin Philharmonic Mar 20, 2013”. (You do not need to subscribe to a new page.)
